Ed Chater

Ed leads a 20-strong media operations team where he oversees the deployment of campaigns, drives efficiencies and creates mobile industry best practice, defining the right way to get excellent results from mobile media.

Ed has a strong performance search marketing background, beginning his career at international market research agency TNS. He moved on to The Search Works, where he pioneered mobile search in the UK, developing industry first search best practice, including optimisation algorithms, complex QS modelling and studies into consumer online journeys. He launched Carphone Warehouse on Google mobile search beta tests and his mobile search strategy for Interflora was shortlisted for ‘The Best Use of Search’ at the Revolution Awards.

After Tradedoubler acquired The Search Works for £56m, Ed pushed his understanding to encompass affiliate, social media, display and importantly how to attribute the customer interaction between these channels. Ed left Tradedoubler to join Digitalis Media where he worked on business modelling using online data and online reputation management.

At Somo, Ed set up the first Bing search account in the UK and got Groupon to the Top 25 in more than 20 markets. He has also been a key driver behind the development and system design of our proprietary technology, including Apptimiser. Ed is a thought leader in app distribution strategy which has lead to fantastic outcomes for News International, BBC and Zynga, reaching top ranks in the App Store in multiple territories. He currently works with Google to improve their mobile search product.
