We’re excited to announce that Somo’s Co-founder and CEO, Nick Hynes, has been included in The LDC Top 50 Most Ambitious Business Leaders 2020, supported by The Telegraph.
With a massive 350 entries this year, Nick has impressed the judges and secured himself a spot in the top 50 of this prolific award. Now in its third year, the award showcases the UK's most ambitious business leaders of medium-sized companies and celebrates their leadership, progressiveness, and talent.
Nick co-founded Somo with Carl Uminski in 2010, a digital product agency that has since designed and built thousands of digital products for brands like Audi, HSBC, De Beers, ŠKODA, Lloyds Banking Group, E.ON, and many more.
Somo has pioneered digital products by utilising its agile development core, with an incredibly strong value-based culture, enabling high-quality outputs delivered at scale and industry-leading pace. Somo’s expertise has been channeled to create completely new digital ventures; such as Cinch, the revolutionary car buying marketplace with machine learning at its core, which was launched from concept in six just months; and with Blackout Technologies, by creating the first-ever, innovative geolocation-based security app.
As well as a pioneer in the business world, Nick actively supports charities such as The Prince's Trust, Greenpeace, RAF Museum, and Scope UK, focusing on educating young people and creating lasting change. He also sponsors institutions that support medical research and is on the Roll of Honour List for the University of Bath. As a company, Somo works hard to use digital for good, helping charities such as WhizzKidz transform the lives of disabled children.

Digital transformation is getting even more exciting everyday, and I’m excited to see what we accomplish in the next 10 years!
But that's not it for Nick, he's the recipient of another award from LDC - the Making a Difference award, recognising individuals who are putting their people, their communities, and their planet first. This award is particularly special for Nick, as he has made it his mission in life to give back; through his charitable work, mentorship of young people, and his lifetime fellowship at The Prince’s Trust.
