Somo wins DADI 2018 for the revolutionary Blackout project .

We’re excited to announce Somo won a Technical Innovation award at the recent DADI 2018 for the revolutionary Blackout project that reduces exposure to potential security breaches in the workplace and boosts student engagement in the education environment. We were also recognised as top 3 in the Automotive Website, App or Campaign category for our groundbreaking work with Audi that redefines how automotive brands promote their products online.

The winning Blackout solution empowers employers and educators to selectively prohibit the use of cameras, voice recorders and web browsers, and prevent access to unauthorised messaging and social media apps based on user location. The product showed an extremely high technical complexity, with many claiming it couldn’t be built. But Somo found a way. Through experimentation and innovation-led thinking, we developed a brand new technology that combines advanced engineering techniques to overcome challenges of platform compatibility, interoperability, data sensitivity and hyper-accurate location determination.
